Position: Unix engineer
Duration: 6 month contract to hire
Location: Delaware
Position Description:
-Implement, modify and maintain the IT function groups systems (hardware and software).
-Monitor and tune system for optimum performance.
-Support the planning, development and implementation of systems updates, modifications and additions.
-Provide support and coordination for both business and technical groups.
-Related responsibilities typically include the following, in addition to the responsibilities of the Systems Administrator: develop documentation project plans and workflow process for related projects, develop systems software administration procedures and procedures and process for hardware, software and/or applications.
-Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies, products and services.
-Recommend acquisitions and modifications as they relate to client applications needs.
-May implement or configure/customize products to meet the client's business requirements.
-Create and maintain complex server directory and/or software file security.
-Handle moderate to complex problem resolution.
-May serve as project coordinator for medium/large (software) projects.
-Coordinate resource usage in a large production environment to facilitate process efficiency and product turnover.
-May instruct, direct and check the work of less experienced staff.
-Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Highest priority is SUN Solaris it is the biggest part of their environment and is growing.
Second is AIX – they have AIX coming in from California and no one on staff with experience. It will be a small part of the environment but a higher priority for skill set.
Third is HP-UX it is the second largest piece of their environment but they have enough staff experience to cover it now and he doesn’t expect it to grow.
Also looking for:
Veritas Clustering (because they have 5 Oracle RAC environments)
SUN Clustering
HP service guard
Virtualization (not VMWare - wants Solaris containers and HP virtual machines)
AIX / HP-UX / Sun Solaris
Has to be open to second shift eventually - hardware is HP/SUN Fujitsu ... IBM/AIX helpfu
