Maha Shiva Ratri Festival

Monday 7th March, 2016

7.30pm to Midnight 12.30am

What to do during the day:
Try to wake up early before sunrise, clean your altar, light the lamp and offer flowers to the Lord, try to eat minimal (fast completely if you can, otherwise drink/eat just milk, water & bananas (fruits) only during meal times). Refrain from unnecessary talk (try to maintain Silence) throughout the day till midnight, contemplate on the Lord's name or a verse from the scriptures. Meditation on the Cosmic Being with Swami Swaroopananda

Purusha Suktam is one of the most famous and lyrically enchanting hymns of the Rig Veda, composed in praise of the awe inspiring infinite Cosmic form of the Lord. The hymn unfolds the profound knowledge of the Creation of the Universe whilst revealing the similarity between the individual and the Universal being. Swamji, in his endearing lucid style, will indicate to us this subtle yet undebatable similarity.

Through Purusha Suktam, Swamiji will guide us through a meditative journey of recognising the unbroken link of harmony and cohesion connecting all things, beings and happenings in the Universe around us. With this knowledge of the oneness of all that is within and without, we will gain repertoire of practical ideas we can apply to live a joyful, humble and fulfilling life.

About the Swami Swaroopananda

Swami Swaroopananda, disciple of H.H. Swami Chinmayananda and one of the foremost spiritual teachers of the Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, is a spiritual stalwart traveling far and wide to provide guidance to innumerable number of spiritual seekers from all over the world. Swamiji is highly respected for His incredible talent in converting the most profound spiritual concepts into simple practical exercises on subjective contemplation
