Position Overview

The successful candidate for the Business Unit Manager role will join a team of professionals supporting the firm’s investment operations and enterprise risk management functions. The role will provide direct support to the business head and the function’s leadership team, which all partner with a diverse set of businesses, spanning across Credit, Private Equity/Opportunistic, Real Assets and Insurance Solutions. In this role, the candidate will be heavily involved in developing and managing a broad range of priorities alongside key stakeholders and will regularly have exposure to senior management.
Primary Responsibilities
The Business Unit Manager will manage multiple responsibilities across the team, have exposure to senior leadership, and room to grow within the Ops and ERM organization. As a Business Unit Manager on the Ops and ERM teams you will:
 

  • Business Strategy & Execution: Support Business Leaders in all aspects of business growth/change, including awareness of market trends and competitor activities, as well as supporting new ideas and initiatives to help drive growth, efficiencies, and scalability.  We will also be responsible for establishing an over-arching operating plan for the functions composed of all key initiatives, deliverables, roles/responsibilities and timeline.  You will also be responsible for establishing governance routines to control these initiatives.
  • Forecasting and P&L Management: Along with Business Leaders and Apollo’s business planning team, ownership over forecasting and budgeting processes for business segments.  This includes reviewing monthly financial reports comparing budget vs. actuals and understanding/reporting on any key differences.   
  • Ongoing Business Reviews & Reporting: Contributing to recurring business reviews to update senior leadership on all key initiatives including growth strategy, financials, and controls.
  • Special Projects: Execute on ad-hoc requests from senior leaders; examples include preparing communications, reporting, and project timelines. 
    Qualifications & Experience
  1. 5-7 years of relevant experience at an investment bank, consulting firm, asset manager, or in a corporate strategy role with a focus on business management.
  2. A critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills who expresses their thoughts and ideas clearly both in oral and written communications.
  3. A collaborative thinker who can also work independently, multitask and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  4. A proactive and organized self-starter with a positive attitude, powerful work ethic, strong attention to detail and advanced knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint.

Associate Director level – 5-8 years of experience    120k-140k base + bonus (170k-200k all in)

Business Manager – COO reporting to Paulomi Shah – Global head of Ops
