Newer Raspberry Pi Zero on old Cluster HAT

I bought a Cluster HAT (v1.1) when it became available and fully populated it with the original Raspberry Pi Zero (v1.2). Obviously time has passed and newer Raspberry Pi Zero models have been released, with the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W being the latest.

Should newer Pi Zero models work on the older Cluster HATs?

I've seen https://8086.support/?action=faq&cat=23&id=116&artlang=en and https://groups.google.com/g/clusterhat/c/S6WW_cgY94o suggests they should but the Pi Zero 2 W has since been released.
