Hello, I have the ClusterHat and it is working great!

I am a beginner with working with Linux, so that's why I post this question.
Is it possible to create a dedicated network for the four PI's on the ClusterHat? So the four Pi's will not be visible in the network, but only trough the Raspberry Pi3?

I have read an article about using several Raspberry Pi's on a network to use as load balancer for Apache websites. This cluster solution would be perfect I my opinion.

Kind regards

Hi,

Good to hear :).

Yes, you could setup the Pi Zeros with static IP addresses (https://groups.google.com/d/msg/clusterhat/yVALMEvD9Qg/Htwo0ewQBgAJ),  remove eth0 from the bridge br0 (in /etc/network/interfaces), configure eth0 as needed for your local network and add an IP to br0 in the same subnet as you used on the Pi Zeros.

You would then have the Pi Zeros network interfaces and Controller br0 interface bridged together but they wouldn't be able to communicate with the eth0/wlan side of the Controller Pi (you could setup NAT if you want the Zeros to have access to the network for updates etc.).

Chris.

Thank you for information, only I cannot access the Pi Zeros at this moment. Maybe I have done something wrong being a beginner at Linux at general.

When I type 'ip addr', the four Pi Zeros are visible as ethpi1, ethpi2, ethpi3 and ethpi4 with the g_ether.host-addr MAC address from the /boot/cmdline.txt file. That appears to be working, only the state is DOWN. The static ip address of the /etc/network/interfaces of the Pi Zeros do not appear.

What am I doing wrong? I appreciate you're help, looking forward for a cluster hat XL ;-)

Hello again,

Getting there... almost...

The Pi's are on a seperate network that is only visible to the Raspberry Pi 3, so each Pi Zero get's it own number from the Raspberry Pi3 and not from the Router/Gateway DHCP server.

But... when I ssh to one of the pi zero's, it asks for the password, upon successful login, it seems that I am connected back to the Raspberry Pi3 like a loop.

What can that be?
