Hi Nate et al,

I've been asked to mention some Agile tools connected to Plone and the community during my talk, which is in the last time slot of the conference. I plan to mention Cluemapper. I won't have much time, and whatever I say should focus on it as an Agile project tool.

My thought is to mention that:
  • CM is Trac + multiple project / user management + time booking + personal dashboard - is that a concise description?
  • It's not a Scrum tool per se, but you can use Trac milestones to plan iterations / sprints, tickets for user stories / defects
How am I doing? :)

Yes. Don't forget to mention that it also has a subversion browser and cross-linking between tickets, changesets and wiki pages. I have an annotated screenshot of this functionality that I can send you.

This is one of the killer features that makes Trac, and subsequently Cluemapper, such a compelling tool for software development teams.

  • It's not a Scrum tool per se, but you can use Trac milestones to plan iterations / sprints, tickets for user stories / defects
Yes, and there are Scrum plugins for Trac that make it suitable for use in a scrum-based project.

How am I doing? :)

Good, I'm looking forward to your talk!

Sounds useful, can you give me an example of the 3 tied together? Hopefully the screen shot will do that.

Ones you are willing to recommend and you know will play nice with Cluemapper?

I hope we can explore Cluemapper + Agilito marriage at the conference, starting with a blind date. :)

Well, we are still in a preliminary phase of evaluation but the two
that we know of are:
Agile-Trac: http://www.agile-trac.org/ (screenshots on this page)
Agilo: http://agile42.com/cms/pages/products/ (screenshots on this page)

Are you the presiding minister? ;)

Gotta love that about trac!

I heard they were going to elope...

But more seriously, you had mentioned meeting up in DC - is this something that would work as a BoF? Maybe a lunch of the folks who were in NOLA? Let's get specific since this is now just a couple days away ;)

See you soon!

A BoF sounds good, better grab a slot while there is one to grab. :)

There is a Salesforce - Plone BoF on Thu and Nate has one on Fri, so how about Wed?

that is the day i'm giving a lightning talk about Cluemapper! :P but
perhaps we could meet after the lightning talk to discuss. it doesn't
necessarily have to be a formal BoF, although if we want to get more
people involved then I could make an announcement about it during the
talk to meet at X place at X time.

I think it would be good to get the Zest guys there (behind XM product for Plone).

Nate - you are just too all over the slots! Scheduling does seem difficult...

Wed post-lightning-talk BoF (we should just carve out random space on grounds, and put it on wiki). Or describe and put spot, TBD?

afaik, description is something like:

Project management software for remote teams - discovering, sharing, and linking

Many Plone consultants depend on web-based project management software to organize, monitor, and manage software development processes. This BoF is meant to bring together those who have a software to share that helps in this space (time tracking, project management, etc) to discover the tools available from those in the community. Also we will explore opportunities to link them.

This is in part a continuation of a conversation that started in NOLA regional symposium connected folks who have since been building software in the area: Rocky and Jazkarta making ClueMapper (trac-based tool), ifPeople making Agilito (django-based tool), and Six Feet Up (time tracking tool).

Hi Chris,

Yes, I'd definitely like to get Jean-Paul (cc'ed) involved in these
discussions. Why don't you propose the BoF for wednesday and pick a
time/place to meet?

The Itteco Trac plugin was just announced 4 days ago, and appears to be designed for Agile teams (Scrum in particular) who wish to benefit from all flexibilities of Trac, yet need the visualization of their work.

    * Hierarchical milestones (default is 3 levels of hierarchy: release, sprint and build, but you may configure everything)
    * Cross-references of the tickets to other tickets and to wiki pages (updated Edit Ticket form, with easy-to-use search and drag-n-drop or references)
    * Introduction of basic Scope Management by means of incorporating the Scope Element (default name is story, but, again, configurable)
    * Whiteboards (though actually not white) with drag-n-drop of the tickets across statuses, team members, milestones and scope elements

The screenshots look pretty impressive:

While it's still in an early v0.1 private beta, I think we should keep our eyes on this plugin, as it might make a very nice addition to Cluemapper, at least for those who would like to use Trac for Agile/Scrum projects.
