The 2014-15 Chinese Language Teacher Association in Virginia (CLTA-VA) Studies Seminar will take place at 臺灣師範大學國語教學中心, MTC in Taipei, Taiwan on June 22–July 7, 2015. The seminar provides a unique opportunity for Chinese language teachers and teachers of other subjects (language arts, history, geography, etc.) to work together. Please read this document for application instructions and submit your application online. Space is limited for total of 20 slots.

Eligibility and priority by number
1. Teachers and professors are members from CLTA-VA, K-16 and have a paired-up teacher —one or two Chinese teacher and a teacher of another subject (language arts, history, geography, etc.) from US.
2. Teachers and professors are members from CLTA-VA, K-16 but no paired-up.
3. Teachers and professors are non CLTA-VA members from all areas that with paired-up teacher
4. Teachers and professors are non CLTA-VA members
5. All applicants must submit their application online + program fee of $200, nonrefundable, to “CLTA-VA” c/o Taiwan Summer 2015 no later than Friday, Feb 20, 2015 to “6501 Deidre Terrace, McLean VA 22101” The reservation is not confirmed until the deposit is received.
6. Upon the completion of the program, the fee of $100 will be returned in Taiwan.
7. As it is a sponsored program, the program is subject to cancel should the funding is not approved or lack of interests. In this case, $200 deposit will be refunded.
Program fee of $200 (non-refundable) will cover:
· All local transportation for tours, field visit, and tuition
· Admission fees for field activities associated with the seminar
· A refund of $100 to be issued upon completion of program requirements and submission of the receipt of your airfare
· MTC will issue a Certificate of Completion of professional development

Participants must cover:
· All airfares from US to and from Taipei Taiwan
· Transportation between airport and the seminar venue
· US passport and applicable application fees (cost varies, please visit: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english.html)
· Taiwan tourist visa application and fees (only if you stay more than 3 months)
· International travel insurance (cost varies, please check with your insurance provider)
Passport Participants are required to have a valid passport.
Purpose
As a continued professional development for schools and educators to nurture students’ global competence intensifies, CLTA-VA works with 臺灣師範大學國語教學中心,MTC to provide the seminar focus on the collaboration between Chinese language programs and other subject areas of study such as history, geography and arts, can provide engaging learning experiences for students to develop skills necessary for a globalized world. This seminar is designed with the theme “(interdisciplinary studies)” in mind, and aims to provide fodder and context with which teachers can initiate and enhance the aforementioned collaboration.
Program feature and outline
In cooperation with MTC—our partner in Taiwan, MTC will be offering a series of lectures, discussions, and field visits with content experts on topics including Chinese art, culture, and society, as well as workshops on how to incorporate these content into language and subject areas instruction.
