【FALL WORKSHOP COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!】
I. CLTA-VA Chinese pedagogy fall workshop on Saturday, October 18th in Woodberry Forest High School, VA completed successfully
The Chinese Language Teachers Association of Virginia, The Chinese Language Teachers Association of Virginia at Woodbury high school had their 2014 Chinese Pedagogy Workshop on October 11th in Woodberry Forest high school. Professor Dr. Chao served as the key workshop trainer, gave a keynote lecture under the title “New Trends for Teaching and Learning Chinese: A Blended Learning Model” and several other speakers gave presentations including in the afternoon. 【SPRING CONFERENCE, MARCH 21, 2015】
Our spring conference is going to be held in George Mason High School, 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA, a well known IB high school, close to West Falls Church Metro stop.
Professor Miao-fen Tseng (曾妙芬 ), the Director of the Institute of World Languages and Associate Professor of Chinese at the University of Virginia will deliver a keynote speech and workshop entitled “Empowering students with authentic tasks and rubrics", and Professor Phillips Zhang （张霓)，the Associate Professor of Chinese at the University of George Washington will talk about technology in Chinese teaching.
In the afternoon, we are going to welcome our own members and friends to come forward to give presentations on any area related to Chinese teaching. 【SUMMER TEACHER TRAINING AND STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP IN TAIWAN OPEN FOR REGISTRATION 】
CLTA-VA Teacher Summer Seminar for 2-3 weeks, and 3 HES College Scholarships (HES) for summer study abroad, sponsored by TECRO, Department of Education in Taiwan.
We are excited to announce the very first teacher summer seminar sponsored by TECRO, Department of Education in Taiwan in June or last week of July to first week of August 2015. We are currently working with the partner in Taiwan to flush out the details. All LOCAL expenses and tuition will be covered, except your own international flight. If you are interested in knowing more details, please contact Tina Kao at tinak...@gmail.com.
We also encourage you nominate your students and
submit HES scholarship application. You can send the packet and/or
contact Fu laoshi at f...@wlu.edu for more in details. The deadline is end of
February.
All teacher and HES student scholarships registration is open now till 3/21 or filled. Note, for teacher program, there will be a $150 non-refundable program fee paid to "CLTA-VA" to hold your slot and will be returned upon completion of seminar in Taiwan.

Our spring conference is going to be held in George Mason High School, 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA, located in metro Dc area, close to West Falls Church Metro stop. A group rate for hotel/lodging information is also provided.

HES- This year, we receive 3 quotas for Chinese Language Teachers Association of Virginia-CLTA-VA. The Education Division would appreciate to receive these two candidate’s application forms by March 31, 2015.
