MY HP Pavilion dv6500 had Roxio 9 basic preinstalled*. Now I have done a clean install of Win 10 64 bit, is there a way to find the setup file and reinstall Roxio Creator 9 basic? I asked Roxio and they can't help. I also checked on the HP recovery partition and although the recovery folder has a size of more than a gigabyte the folder appears empty (even when enabling to view hidden files). Does HP have a place to redownload this software?

Just to let you know that Roxio Creator 9 basic installed just fine. The server was not able to register such old software; evidently registration is optional anyway. I tried the patch from the other site but it would not install with the error, "could not find a qualifying product". I don't know if this version requireds a patch. Thanks again for all your help.

After using MalwareBytes I think I am either infected with something or did something to mess up my laptop. I was trying to get rid of a hijacking easysearchapp but ended up screwing up everything even worse. Attached is an image of what keeps popping up everytime I do anything and here are logs....can't even run MalwareBytes bc that message keeps popping up and will not run...tried chameleon too, won't run either. Thanks for your help!!!

Please uninstall the JavaRA 2 program. Then do the following.

Go into Control Panel, Add/Remove and uninstall ALL versions of Java. Then run the following older JavaRA program

Please download JavaRa-1.16 and save it to your computer.

Good, Combofix was able to find and remove quite a bit for us. Please go ahead and run through the following steps and post back the logs when ready.

STEP 04
Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

[*]Click Scan[*]Wait for the scan to finish[*]If any threats were found, click the 'List of found threats' , then click Export to text file....[*]Save it to your desktop, then please copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

Will work on this tonight but can I ask a question before? Would all the stuff we have done so far mess with my printers? I have a regular printer and also a label printer and both are printing blank...spits out paper just like normal but nothing on them. Thanks!

Just did the MBAM clean removal then tried to reinstall and my computer completely shut down during scan, then would not turn back on, then finally when it did blue screen with fatal system error code. this is a half joking question but could malwarebytes just not work on my computer...I have had so many issues since installing. now my printers all print blank pages, my computer shuts down randomly, so basically I am stuck at step 6 and not sure i want to continue...I feel like i am screwing up my computer even more. I am soooo thankful for your help, but am aggravated by this whole thing. What do you think I should do next? Sorry to be such a pain!

Please visit each of the following sites and lets reset all of your browsers back to defaults to prevent unexpected issues.
If you are not using one of the browsers but it is installed then you may want to consider uninstalling it as older versions of some software can pose an increase in the potential for an infection to get in.

Then let me know what issues you're still having or still seeing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I used to use Nero burning rom 6; not to be confused with the suite of programs, but thought from then onwards it started getting fat cdburnerxp starts up in like 1-2 secs imgburn is practically instant. My sister swears by roxio albeit an older version, so its really whatever you find best for you. Imgburn is an acquired taste but if you read the guides its a powerful little program.

You all knock Nero but I found it to be the best at all my projects I do!! though the versions after Nero 7.5 Are not my better choices as I tried them all. I use Nero 7.5 right today as it it what I know and is the best at many of the projects I do do here!! Just wanted to leave that note. Glad you found your fixes and do not to forget to give your accolades to whose answer helped you.

I had dell remote in the problematic pc and they were unhelpful, i cannot believe they could not fix the issues. i called roxio and they were like you have to go through dell since it was bundled with dell systems.

Sorry roxio, is just plain crap in my opinion, I had bought the vhs to dvd converter, it plainly did not work as it was unable to find a signal, I had went through the customer support which is almost non existent. No help provided here unfortunately just a opinion. Have you attempted customer support yet?

I have a Dell computer with an Optiarc DVD writer. I recently started using the DVD writer for doing ISO backups of my son's movies. I have used the writer for backing up small files before, however mainly CDs were used.

The burning software on my PC is Roxio version 9. I was able to rip the ISO to my HDD with Roxio (8Gb file image), but when I try to burn it to disk it would always fail. I read that I should try the Verbatim DL disks, so I purchased Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x disks, the problem still persisted. It would be a sense error. I then thought it was file size related so I made various files of diff sizes (750Mb, 1gb, 2gb). These failed with the same error writing with Roxio to the DVD. I was using the functions to write from within the Roxio Suite. I called Dell and they tried and it failed. The last test they tried was to bypass Roxio and use the OS. They did a right-click copy of the file and paste to the DVD drive. Three things here- One it was still using Roxio, as Roxio has that Drag-to-Disc function and I have the panel at the bottom the screen with Roxio on it showing it was doing the work. Two - when it completed Roxio popped up a message and asked me how did I want to close and finalize the disc. Third - It worked!! The tech stated that I should try and uninstall Roxio and reinstall.

I still thought this was odd since Roxio did the burring, so I have not uninstalled Roxio. I decided to try Imgburn and burn and ISO to disc. The results are another failure with output below. Can anyone offer any clues? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the help. I tried again after setting everything to DMA as suggested and changing write speed to 4x. New problem this time. Log is below. The only thing I did not try was the Lens cleaner. WIll buy one tomorrow and try again. Is there something else besides the Lens cleaner I can try as well?
