CPU utilization and Execution time of a task in cloud computing

Greetings, 

I am trying to understand the concept of time shared policy for tasks and VMs and got some doubt. I have framed my questions in the following scenarios:

Scenario 1:

Suppose, i Have just one VM whose processing power is described in MIPS. Now, I submit one task (defined by MI). How can i know the execution time of that tasks and the amount of CPU utilized by that task.

Scenario 2:

Now, I submit one more task to the VM while the first one is running. How can i Know the execution time of this task and the amount of CPU utilized by this task. Also, how will this new task will have an impact on the CPU utilization and execution time of the previously running task

Please, help me out with the above mentioned problems.

Hi, 

U can get the execution time by creat a function to calculate it 

Hence, execution time=cloudlet length/ vm’s mips 

When u configure a cloudlet u should send all its details such as length, ram, cpu, and so on. 

In that way u can calculate the utilisation 

But if u want to get the cpu utilitisaion  

There’s a code shared here to get it

But, what when I submit another cloudlet, how will the speed of the first cloudlet be affected, which will be implicit to the the processing power of VMs. That is; will the processing power of VM will change will more cloudlets running simultaneously??

When u will use spaceshare manner, 

The broker will submit one by one 

So once the first one finish its execution then the second one will get process if I’m not mistaken

Greetings, The videos are nicely explained and it did a great help for me to understand some concepts. But, Can you please tell me more about the utilization model. The utilization model used hereon second video is utilization model full (i.e. The cloudlet will always use the full CPU utilization), but I want to calculate the CPU utilization based on the length of cloudlet and also find the remaining CPU utilization of a VM, after assigning a cloudlet. If second incoming cloudlet can be occupied by the remaining utilization of that VM, then the second cloudlet should be assigned to that VM or else to another VM which can accommodate that cloudlet. Please help me with this.
