May i know the difference between them. The java files are exactly the same. So what workload is loaded in random power package? Thanks.

The planet lab package samples dynamically generate cloudlets with utilization model based on a PlanetLab trace.
In several examples, when you create a cloudlet (such as in the CloudSimExample1), it is used the UtilizationModelFull to define that the cloudlet will use 100% of a given resource (such as CPU) all the time.

Using a PlanetLab trace, the utilization for CPU is based on the trace data. The examples at the random package just create random CPU utilization for the cloudlets at each time.

Thanks for the explanation. I would like to run DVFS experiment. So which one should i use? Planetlab package, random package or the traditional DVFS example used in CloudSim v2.1. I try to carry out DVFS experiment using CloudSim 3.0.3 (using v2.1 as reference) But i encountered problems in my codes. Would appreciate if u could take a look.. My source codes as attached.

You can use any of them. However, the planet lab examples will give you more realistic results, considering
they are based on real datacenter traces.

If you have really specific questions that are exactly related to CloudSim features (as that one you just posted),
I can try to help you.
