Hi cloudpasswordmanagersos,

We’ve found that when readers feel like they are part of a community, they are more likely to come back and engage more often.

Hosting events is one of the most effective methods for creating and sustaining a sense of community. Over at SpoilerTV, a site for TV news and reviews, they host "Stop Lurking Day" to encourage readers who have never commented to post their first comment.

Whether it’s a Q&A, a live video stream, or a general hangout place for readers to get to know one another, events bring people together around a shared experience and fosters a strong sense of belonging.

Keep in mind: Negative comments can discourage your audience from engaging with you, so be sure to create moderation rules, enforce those rules, and don't be scared to ban trolls!

If you'd like to learn how to host your first event, read Chapter 3: Host Events to Foster a Sense of Community.
