Here’s a roundup of what happened in the last month, including the release of the GitHub Copilot app, more security options, and smoother governance across enterprises. Making agents more powerful and easier to work with Experience the new GitHub Copilot app: The Copilot app is now available in technical preview for existing Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise users. Manage multiple threads in parallel and set up repeatable intelligence automations in an agent-native environment, all from your desktop. You can remotely control your Copilot CLI sessions: Kick off a Copilot CLI session in the terminal, VS Code, or JetBrains, then monitor or steer it from the GitHub Mobile app or github.com. Better agent session tracking: You can see and manage your agent sessions directly from both issues and projects, giving you more options for visibility into your agent activity. Try out the latest VS Code: Leverage several new improvements in the latest VS Code release, including the ability to semantically search any workspace, a way to chronicle your chat history, BYOK capability, and more. Removing repetitive tasks An improved repository rulesets experience: You can now make individual users bypass actors, and repository administrators can rename ruleset-covered branches without an org or enterprise admin. Configure Copilot CLI plugins at the enterprise level: Define available plugin marketplaces or specify automatic installation of plugins for GitHub Copilot CLI users in your enterprise. Copilot cloud agent secrets and variables supported at the organization level: Set up your Copilot cloud agent secrets and variables once, as well as control which repositories can access each individual secret. Staying alert to help stay secure The GitHub MCP Server supports secret scanning: Scan your code for exposed secrets before you commit or open a pull request, helping to be proactive with security. This capability is now generally available. Dependency scanning with GitHub MCP Server: Use the GitHub MCP server to have your agent check for vulnerable dependencies while you code. This is in public preview. Dependabot can access internal repositories: Configure Dependabot to automatically update internal repositories across an enterprise, regardless of the hosting organization.
