Hi,

I have been running GPU experiments on a c4130 node in the Wisconsin cluster. One thing we hope to measure is the GPU fan speed, but I have been unable to find the value.

I have tried calling nvidia-smi, but the value for fan-speed was simply N/A. I have also tried using lm-sensors, but it did not show any fan related values.

I am under the impression that the fan sensor either does not exist or has been disabled and would like to know if either are the case. If not, I would be grateful if I could get some pointers on how I might be able to get this measurements.

Sincerely,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,
These GPUs do not have fans installed. They are just attached to large heatsinks and rely on the server chassis fans to pull air across them for cooling. Most GPUs designed to be installed into servers use this arrangement. You would need to reference the chassis fans for the details you are looking for.

Thanks,
Scott
