Hello,

I am trying to user the k8s template with a more recent version of Kubernetes. To do this, I updated the Kubespray version to release-2.25, but it does not work. I get these errors with setting up metallb:

TASK [kubernetes-apps/metallb : MetalLB | Layout layer3 template] **************

An exception occurred during task execution. To see the full traceback, use -vvv. The error was: ansible.errors.AnsibleUndefinedVariable: 'None' has no attribute 'metallb_peers'. 'None' has no attribute 'metallb_peers'

fatal: [node-0]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "AnsibleUndefinedVariable: 'None' has no attribute 'metallb_peers'. 'None' has no attribute 'metallb_peers'"}

I also tried updating just the Kubernetes version in the template, but that did not work either. Has anyone encountered this or know how to get a modern kubernetes version working?

Thanks,

Meghna

Hi Meghna, I have a branch of this profile that supports more recent
kubespray versions, which you can instantiate via this direct link:
https://www.cloudlab.us/instantiate.php?profile=79d0f735-a099-11ea-b1eb-e4434b2381fc&refspec=refs/heads/u24-update
. I have tested this branch up through the release-2.27 branch. Please
report any issues you see. (Note that the branch is named u24-update,
but has not yet been updated to Ubuntu 24... that will come in the future.)

Hi David,

The profile you sent seems to be working for me! Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks,
Meghna

Hi David,

I see on gitlab that there have not been changes to this profile in a month, but I have recently been seeing many failures when I run this profile on new Cloudlab reservations. Do they still work for you? Do you know of something changing recently? I haven't changed anything about how I set up my cluster so I am surprised to see this.

Thanks,
Meghna

Hi Meghna,

I do not see many problems, no. I just tested both branches in a single
node config, no issues -- but I do only use one-node configurations
rather than 3+, and that is the clear difference with your current batch
of experiments. In any case, when you see a failure, please report it,
and I'll look at it ASAP.

Also, I went ahead and merged the `u24-update` branch into `master`;
it's long overdue.

Thanks,

David
