Not able to see the console or the shell

Hi all! I am trying to build and install a different kernel version on cloudlab vm, following this documentation, but I am unable to see the console itself to change the grub options.

Please help regarding the same

For me, I am still not able to access the shell or the console of this project. Am I missing anything or does my user not have enough permissions?
