I am wondering whether there are any machines in Cloudlab that have non-volatile memory (NVM). I know most of the machines have NVMe flash storage. Based on my understanding, NVMe is not the same thing as NVM. NVMe is the protocol, whereas NVM refers to the persistent memory, which enjoys ultra low read/write latency and the the data will not lose even when the machine is powered off.

I would like to know whether some machines in Cloudlab have NVM equipped.

Thanks,
Jinkun

Hi Jinkun,

While we have discussed adding machines equipped with NVM (and I have been wanting to get some for a while), we do not currently have any such machines unfortunately.  At present, any addition of NVM to CloudLab would have to wait until a new round of funding comes in.  Intel's recent cancellation of their Optane DCPMM program complicates matters as well.

Best,
