Hello,

I kindly ask to set NPS (NUMA Per Socket) to 4 and memory interleaving to off for the following experiments in the BIOS:

https://www.cloudlab.us/status.php?uuid=8bbacfe3-c18e-11f0-bc80-e4434b2381fc https://www.cloudlab.us/status.php?uuid=42e97a0d-c18e-11f0-bc80-e4434b2381fc https://www.cloudlab.us/status.php?uuid=b432bdc7-c18e-11f0-bc80-e4434b2381fc https://www.cloudlab.us/status.php?uuid=73df63ab-c18e-11f0-bc80-e4434b2381fc https://www.cloudlab.us/status.php?uuid=2687a9e2-c18e-11f0-bc80-e4434b2381fc

Apologies for the repeated NPS requests. I underestimated how long these experiments would take, but I've now reserved much longer time periods for the machines above. This should avoid the need for frequent configuration changes going forward.

Thank you for your help with this.

Regards,
Julian W.

Why did you do this as five one node experiments instead of a single
experiment with five nodes? Just curious. It is the same amount of work
to change the BIOS either way. But if these five nodes need to communicate
with each other, then you really should put them in a single experiment
with an experiment LAN connecting them.

That is a good question! It was a naive way from my side to set the operating system (I have some nodes with Ubuntu 24.04 lts and some with Ubuntu 18.04 lts). If there is another way to select the OS per node in an experiment with >1 nodes, I probably missed it. The nodes don't need to communicate with each other.

Ah, I see. You pretty much would have to roll your own geni-lib profile
to do that. Another way, not for the faint of heart, is to use the
swiss army knife of profiles:

https://www.cloudlab.us/show-profile.php?uuid=ee755aff-e399-11e9-b1eb-e4434b2381fc

and you can tell it you want five nodes, specify the type, and specify five
space-separated image URNs. And maybe tell it you want one VLAN.

I figured out how to do the Numa Nodes Per Socket changes myself, so a change isn't necessary anymore.
