Greetings,

I thought I would start some threads for first orders of business for CFS.

The first order is the name. When I first thought of CloudFreeStyle I was thinking about Cloud Foundry + Freedom. Of course, "freestyle" means awesomeness in many contexts. So is it "Cloud Freestyle" or "Cloud Free Style"? How about we make it both. ie make it ambiguous.

I have been on purpose been using "CloudFreeStyle" as the canonical ambiguous form. Most people will read it as Cloud + Freestyle, but it can also mean Cloud + Free + Style. RMS would like it. :)

I also think CFS should be the canonical short form.

I'm for picking a totally new name not using common buzzwords like
"Cloud" and "Free". You end up getting cease and desist letters from
totally random IP attorneys when you use common terms. Let's pick
something like PlatyPaaS or PaaSNost ;-)

Data is the new coal - abundant, dirty and difficult to mine.

I'm pretty sure Cloud Free Style is ok, but I can't discount what Ed points out.

At the same time, I'll digress from actual naming debate, I'm up for whatever. Cloud Free Style IS easier to remember and discus then "PlatyPaaS" or such ( even though that is kinda funny )

:)

My main desire is to get a core repo, be able to contrib, and not have to fight with VMware about contributions. Secondary, I'd like to make sure that I can contrib to things that aren't being redundantly developed by the community and have actual value of what I make in the community. So naming isn't on the top of my list.  :)

Howdy,

+1 to CloudFreeStyle and CFS for now.

We can always revisit names later on.

Although PaaSNost is pretty clever, I would still go with CFS.

Who came up with this whole "Platform as a Service" thing anyhow? And
do the Easter egg dye Paas folks ever send attorneys around? ;-)

It turns out, by the way, that I can't trademark "znmeb" - sucks to be
me, I guess. ;-)
