I am not seeing the pages tab in this group any longer and curious if
anyone cannot see it either.

One of the main advantages is that you can use "interwiki" links like [[Wikipedia:Cloud computing|cloud computing]] to seamlessly "spill over" into Wikipedia, meaning that some of our efforts will actually benefit the greater community.
There's a bunch of other advantages too, like watchlisting, talk pages, anonymous edits, etc. Give it a go and if we decide we're comfortable with Pages in addition to/instead of MediaWiki then we can always enable it again.
