Looks like a lot of people will be in San Francisco for the Cloud Computing Expo on November 19-21. Anyone interested in helping organizing a cloud camp or meetup?

I know at least 100 people that will be attending the expo.

Sure, we should check with Microsoft and Sun they are also probably open to the idea of hosting the cloud camp.

QCon SF http://qconsf.com  is happening at the exact same time in San Francisco, and we also have a Cloud computing track at the event:

In case that helps.

Hi Floyd, good point.

Perhaps we can find a way to include everyone.

QCon = Nov 19-21
Cloud Computing Expo = Nov 19-21
MashupCamp = Nov 17-19

I noticed you have an open spaces event on Nov 20th. Perhaps we can put on CloudCamp on the even of the 20th somewhere on the penninsula between QCon and CloudComputing Expo.

Thoughts?

that sounds like a good idea for the 20th. if everyones ok with the peninsula I could see fi a conference room is available for cloud camp at

2929 Campus Drive, Suite 350
San Mateo, CA 94403-2534

between SJ and SF. let me know i am glad to help.

Hi Jason,

Sounds good. We need a large room that can hold at least 150 people plus at least 4 breakout rooms, somewhere on the Peninsula. Does the San Mateo location provide that, if not can you help us find a place like that? I'm in Mountain View so feel free to give me a call and perhaps we can go check out places together.

Another option, if you want to have your meeting AT our open space at QCon on Thursday evening,  I could probably convince the rest of our conference committee to allow you all to join that night, and you might also attract other attendees. We will have rooms that can fit a few hundred people and they are open for anyone to simply sign up to use. Right now we haven’t announced the open space so you can use any of the following three timeslots (or two put together): 7:00, 8:15, 9:30pm. Just presenting an option…

I'm open to it too, but there are some challenges
1. We typically run the event for about 4-5 hours (6pm - 11pm)
2. We need some money for food and drink so we'll need sponsors
3. Its far from the other conference, so we'll likely loose the Cloud Computing Expo folks

If we can work around those issues, then I'm all for it.
