Any thoughts on open source licensing for our plugins, libs, packages,
etc.?

At the top level, the question is whether to have one license for all
such packages, regardless of language, vs. case-by-case basis. Seems
like it might be nice to standardize, but on the other hand a quick
perusal of pecl packages (for php) indicates that many of those use
the "PHP" license.

As for intent behind the licensing - the goal here is for people to
use it widely and freely and to improve it (and for others to be able
to use those improvements widely and freely, etc.).

For clarity - the code, architecture, scripts, etc. which are _behind_
the API are not open source, but are Cloudscape.ws proprietary.

Looking forward to your input,

If you use a viral or CopyLeft license like GPL, no commercial company will use your service.  I think that GPLv3 requires source release even for hosted services.

PHP, Python, etc.  Most of the language licenses let you do whatever you want without releasing source.  I suggest BSD, MIT, or Apache.  Licenses that only require you to at most say that they are using cloudcache which would probably be nice for you.
