Hi,

I am not able to connect to CloudBioLinux AMI (2013-08-28) instance that is running on Amazon cloud by using NX client 3.5(Graphical View) where as I can able to connect through PUTTY.

I added an NX user and started the NX server through putty and I verified the status and it is running.

I am getting the following error while trying to connect from NX client from my local windows 7 machine:

"The NX service is not available or the NX access was disabled on host XX.XX.XXX.XX". Further gone to the details it is giving the following:

NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 7372
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files
NX> 285 Setting the preferred NX options
NX> 200 Connected to address: 54.85.148.49 on port: 22
NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx
NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey
NX> 204 Authentication failed.

Can some one help me out in this.

Venkatesh;
Thanks for trying out CloudBioLinux. Apologies in advance as I'm a shell
user rather than NX user but I can try to help with setup.

In order to use NX, you need to have password based logins enabled,
since NX cannot use public key authentication. The BioCloudCentral
launch page does this for you:

https://biocloudcentral.herokuapp.com/launch

or these is a `configure_freenx.sh` script included in the ubuntu home
directory that handles the process of setting up a password and
permissions.

As a future note, we're also planning to swap out NX access with X2Go
(http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php), but work on that hasn't yet begun.

Hope this helps,
Brad
