How to create a new field to be recognized in Invoice Parser

Hi,

I am trying to use Invoice parser to extract informations from the documents.

One information that I need to extract is Tax receipt number whuch is unique for every invoice. As this number has to be presented to government institution for every invoice, it is very important to include this new field.

However, this field, as it is very unique for our country, is not included as one of the filed that Google Invoice Parser extracts.

Is there any ways to include a new field for Invoice Parser, so I can get these field extracted?

As you can see in this document[1] Document AI Invoice Parser has some fields Detected that you can use, unfortunately there is no field to take the Receipt Number. What you can do is use Vertex Ai to get the Receipt Parser and get the Receipt Number as shown in this tutorial[2].

It is, basically, write your own invoice parser.

I suppose that we can create an own entity extraction model to deal with this scenario. Which one do you think is better? Write your own invoice parser code or create your own entity extraction model?

In my opinion it is better to create your own invoice parser because creating your own invoice parser can let you specify the fields that you want. Meanwhile using an extraction model, it can be easier these models have some fields that won’t give you some fields that you probably want.
