Video Intelligence API timing out even after an hour

Hi

I'm using the Video Intelligence Object Tracking API for a few videos. But for most cases, the api is taking a long time (sometimes hours). I've placed a timeout of 30 min and all the video processing requests are timing out.

Most my videos vary between 150Mb to 400Mb. Is this a problem?

I've also seen similar delays even with videos as small as 30-40 Mb. The Label detection API on the other hand works pretty fast for the same videos.

Can you please help me with this?

Hi Abhijith,

1.
Are you formulating the annotate request with 'inputUri' or with 'inputContent.' Note that the two are mutually exclusive. 

If you're putting the base64-encoded bytes directly in 'inputContent' you might want to consider uploading the input_video file directly to Google Cloud Storage and using 'inputUri' instead of ‘inputContent.’ This will reduce the request payload size and the upload-latency.

2.
Note that there is a quota limit of '180 backend seconds per minute' which is documented here.  This quota is shared among parallel annotate jobs and can be increased through a console quota increase request. First, I recommend that you monitor this quota to find out if a quota increase is needed. You can monitor this quota by navigating to API & Services (of Video Intelligence) > Quotas.

Hi Abdel,

I am facing the same timeout issue in using the video intelligence text detection service for a video. I am using this service for the past 6 months and usually, it takes on average 6 minutes to process a 25-minute video but now it's not even processing in 30 minutes. Please note that I am uploading the asset on GCS and then processing. Please help me with this asap.

The latency you observed looks unexpected. Please open an issue at our Public Issue Tracker [1] with your sample video and command for issue reproduction and further investigation.

Hi Farooq,
The current video API text detection global traffic is high. Thus yours are affected.
Could you send us your operation id, which endpoint you are using? We can help to look into it.
