Hi, i am wondering how i would implement cloud pub/sub with and android or iOS mobile application, can it connect straight with the java sdk or is it best to use a third party service layer in between?

Thanks

You can connect from a mobile client using one of the supported Google API client libraries, such as the google-api-java-client or google-api-objectivec-client-for-rest.

Thanks for your answer, i will look more in depth into those api's, at the surface though they look like they only connect with REST or gRPC, is there any way of using long term connections like websockets or MQTT, or would i need to use some other server first in compute engine to do this?
Thanks for your help

The Pub/Sub service itself is only exposed as a REST or gRPC service. If you want to support MQTT or WebSocket clients you'd need to set up your own server, yes. You'd effectively be bridging different messaging services together.
