I'm hoping to use the Google Pub/Sub API with a Hubot (https://github.com/github/hubot) instance. Unfortunately, Hubot does not support HTTPS (SSL) endpoints. Hence, I'm probably going to have to use a normal HTTP endpoint, and wrap stunnel (https://www.stunnel.org/index.html) around it, in order to keep Google Pub/Sub happy.

The Google Pub/Sub prequisites page (https://cloud.google.com/pubsub/prereqs) also states:

Your server must be reachable via a DNS name and must present a signed SSL certificate.

Can I clarify, would a self-signed SSL certificate be sufficient here? Or do you need to purchase a commercial SSL certificate linked to the domain?

Thanks,
Victor

Hi Victor,

We do require an SSL certificate by a well known authority. Self-signed certificates will not work.

You may file a feature request to support this. https://cloud.google.com/pubsub/support
