We already had an internal issue tracking the Cloud DNS side of this problem, and have already implemented some warnings and advice when creating SPF/TXT records through the Google Cloud DNS Console interface; we'll look to extend that to cover DKIM and DMARC as well as the issue with string components longer than 255 bytes.
I opened an internal enhancement request for the Gmail side, but that's out of our hands. You should report this as well on the
G Suite Help Forum, and
contact G Suite support to report this as a problem (you can indicate that there is already an internal issue "Automatically split DKIM strings").
They are already aware of some other issues that exist with the larger 2048-bit DKIM keys rolled out this spring as some DNS hosting services cannot support TXT records with (multiple) strings (longer than 255 bytes) at all, so there is now an option to create 1024-bit DKIM keys that fit in less than 255 bytes.
