1) I have my domain on google domains setup with google mail servers.
2) I'm now using cloud dns and setup the mx records the same as was on the google domains console.
3) Google domains have this message now: It looks like you've changed your name servers. All settings for your domain (including website, email, synthetic records and resource records) are currently disabled. To enable these settings, you will need to restore the Google Domains name servers.

It's not working, having created mx records now on cloud dns - any fixes?

Hey Paul,

The warning you're seeing in Google Domains just says that the settings you see in the Domains console (particularly those related to DNS) are not the ones that apply to your domain, since you're changed your name servers to Google Cloud DNS.

What type of email service are you setting up? Are you trying to use Google Domains' email forwarding feature, or something more involved like email from Google Apps for Work? Either of these should work fine if you set up the same MX records on Google Cloud DNS as you have/had on Google Domains.

Best,
--Derek

Hey Derek, thanks for your reply. Seems I configured the cloud dns record incorrectly, the format is new to me as I'm used to loading priority seperate to the mx record. All good, loving GC!
