Public DNS PTR Record Issue

Hi guys,

my server is server3.mydomain.com and is used for hosting client websites using webmin/virtualmin control panel.

I am now wanting to host email and am having problems with reverse DNS PTR.

In Wemaster Central, i have verified server3.mydomain.com via html 

I now follow the outline https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instances/create-ptr-record

When i attempt to enter the PTR domain into console "server3.mydomain.com" (i have edited the domain name to "mydomain") i get the following error

Editing VM instance "server3" failed. Error: Invalid value for field 'resource.publicPtrDomainName': 'server3.mydomain.com.'. Please verify ownership of the PTR domain at https://www.google.com/webmasters/verification/verification?domain=server3.mydomain.com. 

I dont understand what is wrong?

Thanks for choosing GCE.

You were following the right doc to create a VM with PTR record, i.e. https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instances/create-ptr-record. 

However, verification via HTML doesn't mean you own the domain and thus won't allow you to create a VM with the PTR record. Please follow the error message and verify domain ownership at https://www.google.com/webmasters/verification/verification?domain=server3.mydomain.com.
