Hi have my domain name and its website on godaddy but wanted to use its sub-domain on GC DNS and its application on GCE.
I've created on Zone under GC DNS and added "A" record entry of sub-domain pointing to GCE IP under it.
When i ping or open sub-domain it is not resolving. What've i missed or done wrong?

If you want to use Google Cloud DNS to manage (parts of) your domain namespace registered at GoDaddy, you have a few choices.
Assuming that you have already created your Google Cloud DNS, you will need to find out what your nameservers are; instructions for getting this information from the Developer's Console or the command-line gcloud can be found at https://cloud.google.com/dns/update-name-servers, and will be something like:
(instead of d1 through d4 you may see a/b/c or no letter at all) -- Make a note of these domains
You can move DNS hosting for your entire domain from GoDaddy to Google Cloud DNS. Instructions for doing this on the GoDaddy side are at https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us-12317 - use the four nameserver names you obtained above. If you do this, all entries in your DNS zone (including A and MX records for the domain itself) will be managed through Google Cloud DNS, but GoDaddy will remain your registrar for domain registration and renewal.
