Hi.

I am from performance testing and engineering background, and I have
been reading a lot about Cloud and VM's these days.

I saw a post few days ago in these forums, talking about performance
testing over cloud.

Wanted to know if any one did a large scale performance testing of
cloud apps?
How was the monitoring done?
It is easy with open source tools like The Grinder/JMeter to scale to
as many users as we want, but, what if we take a commercial tool like
HP LoadRunner, how does this affect the performance test.
How would this be different from the performance testing normal web
apps?

Would also love to get any pointers towards designing the strategy for
performance testing of cloud apps.

Thanks.

I have heard about a product CloudTest by Soasta (http://www.soasta.com), during "Amazon Web Services" conference in Seattle
I did not try it myself, byt I thought I should share the information

Thanks

we are actively involved with testing high availability for certain
cloud/grid apps. we have two dozen servers in a northern location,
and two dozen servers about 250 miles south connected with a dwdm
OC192. The testing is scheduled to start in early august. I can
give you more information on this after the tests are complete if you
like.
