Hi Team,

I am trying to access /footprint api for getting the emission data for my org's cloud accounts.

I am able to get the response. I am using both CPU and GPU instance for computational requirements of my organization. So it would be very helpful if i get a split of emissions between CPU and GPU in the response. Currently only service is mentioned and no breakdown.

I looked at the code, you guys are differentiating CPU and GPU by the instance type and then getting the respective min and max watts.  Is there any way i can get a Breakdown of emissions individually for CPU and GPU that i am using with my cloud provider? If not, are there any plans to include this feature? it will be good to also get the instance wise breakdown for CPU and GPU.

Thanks,

Hi Shreyansh,

Thanks for your question! At this time, we do not support providing separate calculations for CPU and GPU emissions since they are tied to the same machine. My gut thoughts on this is that the possibility of whether we can will rely on if there is a separate usage metric within the billing data for CPU instances that have a GPU attached. If there isn't, we may not be able to add support for this.

However, consider creating a feature request for this on Github! This would be a nice way to open the conversation and gauge usefulness of this feature from more technical users within our community!

Thanks!
