We all know the main purposes for socks: Absorb sweat,
keep feet warm, prevent blisters, blah, blah, and.... blahhh.

But why the "sockless" look after 2000?

Everyone seems to want to hide the fact that they're
wearing socks! Even in expensive Oxfords at the
law office. Nearly all socks sold today are of the "no-
show" kind, or very low-cut so that they just peak
above the shoe being worn. There are even socks
available that cover only the forward half of the foot -
toes and front arch. What is driving this weird
trend? Is it vanity?

Personally, I have drafty ankles and wear regular ol'
crew height socks any time of the year that I wear
socks. But it makes me feel conspicuous in public,
in a 'throwback' kinda way!
