is compiling with warnging_level=VERBOSE same as using Linter?

I am trying to learn about all the closure tools and one of the JavaScript Dev's I work with told me if I send the flag when I build --compiler_flags="--warning_level=VERBOSE" then that will automatically run a loose linter.

I don't see any mention of this in the docs or on the forums though...

That's in the compiler, not the linter.
