non-Gregorian calendars

I've had a question from a customer about using non-Gregorian dates (e.g. Thai solar calendar).

Conceptually it seems possible to store the date internally as a Gregorian date and convert it to the desired calendar for display, but goog.i18n.DateTimePatterns_th just seems to format the year/month/day without offsetting the date - does anyone know of a helper class in Closure to handle this or do I need to implement it myself?
