Sounds good to me.

What is the "Download Service". Is it just: https://code.google.com/p/closure-compiler/downloads/list

Why don't we just host the JARs else where?

I don't have strong feelings about moving to github, but the stated
reasons are a little bit counter-intuitive.

"GoogleCode is removing binary downloads in a year, so let's move to
a service that removed them a few months ago"

Ah my ignorance shows. I knew they had them at one point but didn't know they removed it. I assumed they just charged for it which would prevent most abuse.

Ignore this then.  I need a better reason to confuse everyone.  I will now assume the increase in abuse is cause from redirection of abusers from github.

I know that google don't use maven, but why don't you get some free nexus hosting for the binaries no matter where the code is kept.

We do support mavenized versions of closure-compiler.  If we're converting over to git it might be a good time to reorganize the directory structure and switch to maven as a build system.

One could easily generate a standalone compiler.jar using the right set of maven plugins.

what kind of traction would this have inside google?
>>One could easily generate a standalone compiler.jar using the right set of maven plugins.
this is my point exactly, it would be a fit for the people who don't use maven and a pleasure for people who do.
