I am wondering is Chrome Extension can also act as a Closure
Inspector ??

Or is the API available make it impossible to do ?

Bump bump.

I find it really odd that this tool has fallen by the wayside, and we don't know why. Are Googlers using something better? Are they using pure Chrome dev tools?

Closure Inspector was not widely used. Most debugging is done by using the --debug and --pretty_print flags when compiling (even on some internal Google projects).

Ok, that's what I'm doing as well.

What about if there's a problem that's only manifesting when compiling with advanced optimizations?

We have older tools that allow for V1-level mapping manually (more or less). However, rest assured we are working on more interesting uses for source maps :)

Is Paul Irish going to be involved in presenting those uses? I just watched his Chrome Dev Tools and Modernizr talks. Funny guy.

You can use advanced optimizations with --pretty_print and --debug. It works rather well in fact. Symbols are still renamed, but they are given rather verbose names that makes it easy to match to the original source.
