Supper before hacking

If anyone is interested, I've got some good medicine going with my
noir test2 project, but to get the most out of it, I need to convert
most of the functions in it into macros. I tried doing it once and it
worked, but I had some strange things happening that I couldn't
explain. Looking to see if anyone is interested in delving into this.
