Hello everybody,

We've secured the Wix roof on the 31st of July for a gathering (a summer opportunity).
The topic is still to be determined. Possible candidates:

Nir Rubinstein -- Clojure in production
Informal meetup around work environment (sharing tips about Emacs, Repl-based development, etc)

If anybody wants come forward, now is the time.

Thank you.

As a side note, on the 22nd there is a full stack developer meetup about FP on the JVM. There are going to be 3 lecturers, each about a different programming language (Java 8, Scala and Clojure). I'll be doing the Clojure bit, but it's going to be VERY basic - I have 30-45 minutes so I'll just basically give a few slides, talk about the capabilities of the language and then do a short demo. Still, if anyone wants a whirlwind Clojure highlights talk, you're more than welcome to come.

As for the upcoming gathering, If you do decide to hear my talk, I thought about making a kind of story telling talk about the place I work in (AppsFlyer), how we ended up using Clojure and how it came to dominate almost 70%-80% of our code base. As Daniel wrote, I'd be happy to share all the tips we found along the way of running a full scale system that handles 0.75 billion daily events and how Clojure helped us in that aspect. I think it's going to be interesting to talk about the transition we made from Python to Clojure etc.

Daniel and I will formulate the specifics but if anyone wants an emphasis on anything particular, feel free to respond to this ;-)

Thanks!

Unfortunately, Wix made a mistake (double booking), and asks us to move the date.
They say the roof will be available on the 14th of August, two weeks later, pending confirmation.
In the meantime, I meant to ask this group if anyone knows a space in Tel-Aviv that could host us on the 31st of July. That would spare us the trouble and friction in moving the date.
Please let me know.
Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Due to difficulties releasing the roof on the initial schedule, Wix offered us to gather on the14th of August instead. Furthermore, because the projector in unsuitable before sunset, the event will start at 19h00 and not 18h00.

Please update your calendars and sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Daniel
