Indeed. NIPS is now the most heavily attended AI conference in the world. Somebody actually did a study on this. I'll post the link below. Participating aside from bein fun would be an excellent way of giving Clojure more visibility in the AI and specifically ML community. I've rcently discovered that are very succesdful CNN based approaches to NLP, I'm sure there's a NIPS paper that is based on this approach.
