Hi,

There are a few folks at my workplace are interested in both deep learning and Clojure, so I was thinking of setting up a simple Cortex dojo exercise for people to get started. My idea was to follow the general approach described in Carin's post and have folks start with the MNIST example code and adapt it to solve a new problem.

A couple of quick questions:
  • Is there a plan to publish snapshots of the experiments and cortex jars that the examples depend on? Right now you need to locally install them, which is fine, but an extra step for people new to Clojure.
  • Is there a good source or guide for working out what layers are relevant to what kind of problem? I could reuse the MNIST ones, but it would be great to get folks to experiment with different configurations.
  • Would it be useful to have a lein template for setting up experiments, to make it quick for folks to try it out?

Thank you to everyone for making such a great tool.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Notes from a new cortex user...

Cortex version 0.9.9 works pretty great and the jars are uploaded on clojars already so no need to build them.

Thanks folks!

I'm really enjoying playing with Cortex, and I'm finding the MNIST example in particular great to get started with.
