Hi everyone,

I am stepping down from the clojars admin list, and the privileges and responsibilities it entails. I've been happy to help admin the clojars server for the past couple years, and hope it remains a fixture for the community in the future.

Thanks,
Nelson

Nelson:

Thanks so much for all the hard work you have done maintaining
clojars. I know you've devoted a lot of time to maintaining a critical
piece of community infrastructure, and I appreciate it.

With Nelson stepping down, where does that leave admin of clojars? I
see that there are quite a few open deletion requests and untriaged
issues[1]. Are there already admins willing to step in and fill
Nelson's (large) shoes? If not, I'd be happy to volunteer to take on
some of that responsibility.

Nelson,
I'd also like to say thanks for all your work supporting Clojars. Also, to others that have been involved in administrating Clojars over the years.

I'd be happy to help as well. Clojars is an important part of the Clojure community. I hope it is also taken care of in terms of the hosting costs and so forth.

Phil and Alex both have access, but limited time related to clojars I'd believe. I'm +1 on having more people to process requests, but will defer to them.

Nelson (or anyone): Which Phil and Alex are referred to here?  I could help out for an hour or two per week if someone can explain what needs to be done.  Not sure if that is enough to make a dent in the workload.

I believe Nelson is referring to Phil Hagelberg (technomancy) and Alex Osborne (ato). I believe that Nelson was the only?/most? active admin. IMO, this leaves Clojars in a bit of a precarious situation[1].

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes. This is Alex's project and he and/or Phil have every right to decide to do as they see fit, but IMO I think Toby would be a great candidate for Clojars administration. I would like to see him deputized. Others are willing to help (Andy and myself), but at least for now having Toby able to perform administration tasks would be a good next step.

Again, this is all my own opinion. I suppose it would be good to hear from Phil or Alex, if possible.

Paul

[1] I don't say this to make Nelson or anyone else feel guilty. This is a volunteer, unpaid, and thankless position, so again thank you for all the work that Nelson and everyone else has put into Clojars.

First of all I'd like to echo the thanks to Nelson for the many hours of
work he's put into keeping the project running.

I think it'd be great if you could take over here. I can add your pubkey
to the server, but I'd like to get confirmation from Alex before I do so.

I don't know how good the docs are for common admin tasks, but perhaps
we should work on putting together some kind of playbook.

Ditto.

Okay by me. Thanks for volunteering. :-)

Great, I'll send you my pubkey directly. I'll also need access to the
github repo to handle issues (I'm 'tobias' on gh).

I'd be happy to write something up as we go. Would you have time to
chat on IRC in the near future to get me started?

Awesome.  Overall the time requirements for maintenance are minimal on non-heartbleed/shellshock days.

A list of things to add Toby to off the top of my head to handle deletion and PRs:

1. SSH access
2. Github permissions
3. con...@clojars.org email forwarding

Somethings related to uptime include:
1. pingdom
2. access to the linode account / backups
3. s3

Misc others:
1. Admin access to this and the clojars-user groups (?)
2. google analytics
3. twitter

I'm happy to help on a guide to the server and how to run common tasks and chat for a bit on irc/hangouts/skype.

Great, thanks Nelson! I'll probably take you up on that :)

Thanks for all of your work, Nelson!

I'm happy to help out in whatever ways I can.

Cheers,
