I have decided to petition to stop the vampires diaries from being removed off of Netflix (UK) on the 1st of November 2020.
This will impact me but especially the TVD fan base who love to binge watch the series.
I believe Netflix is the easiest way to access the full series of this show.
Get ready to say goodbye, Vampire Diaries fans. The end of the popular vampire show is here and after eight long seasons of doppelgngers, vampires, ghosts, witches, and more, it doesn't seem real that it's actually coming to a close. But, unfortunately, it is. Thankfully, for those who just can't let go, you can rewatch every season online, but when will The Vampire Diaries Season 8 be on Netflix? Fans won't have to wait long to relive the final season.
Thanks to the latest deal Netflix signed with The CW last year, all The CW's shows will release their entire season on the streaming service eight days after their season finale airs. Therefore, The Vampire Diaries' last season will be available for streaming on Netflix as early as Saturday, March 18. So for those of you who missed this final season or the past few seasons or never watched the series at all, you'll be able to binge-watch the entire series very soon.
The Vampire Diaries began airing in 2009 when vampires were all the rage. From Twilight to True Blood, TVD fit right in with the vampire book series adaptation phenomenon that hit in the early 2000s and the show stayed popular for many, many years. It even inspired the spin-off series The Originals, which will begin it's fourth season on Friday, March 17, taking up The Vampire Diaries vacated time slot.
When The Vampire Diaries began, it was all about Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) who soon realized her small hometown of Mystic Falls wasn't as safe as she always believed it was. After the death of her parents, she found comfort in Stefan Salvatore (Paul Weasley), but also ended up falling for his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder), thus beginning one of television's most fought over love triangles.
Dobrev ended up leaving the series after the show's sixth season, but will return in the series finale. The show has changed a lot in the past eight years and the love triangle between Elena and the Salvatore brothers is now non-existent, thanks to Stefan now being fully in love with (and married to) Elena's best friend, Caroline Forbes (Candice King), and fine with Damon and Elena, also popularly known as "Delena," being together.
The only other remaining characters from the show's first season is Elena's other best friend and the town's resident (former) witch Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham), Elena's first boyfriend Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig), and Elena's former teacher Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis), who's died and come back a few times throughout the series.
According to International Business Times, Elena's Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning), Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino), and Elena's little brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will most likely return for the series finale as well. So as sad as it'll be to say goodbye to this show that has dominated many fans' lives for the past eight years, at least viewers can always return to Mystic Falls if they choose to by way of streaming.
Created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, The Vampire Diaries has been a fan favorite and popular show ever since the first season was released on September 10th, 2009. It kept its place as one of the most popular teen series during the past couple of decades.
The show follows the life of a 17-year-old girl, Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev), who loses both of her parents in a car accident. She then falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire, Stefan Salvatore (played by Paul Wesley) and his 170-year-old brother Damon Salvatore (played by Ian Somerholder). The 2 brothers struggle to protect Elena from numerous villains and threats through Mystic Falls.
For all the people in Australia, this is the second time that they have seen the show leave Netflix. The first time was back in March 2019 before it became relicensed in January 2021. All 8 seasons have been set to be removed again, 2 years later.
Based on what we have seen so far, we can expect the show to be leaving in the next couple of months. According to whats-on-netflix.com, The Vampire Diaries will be leaving Netflix US on March 8th, 2022. Better get to binge watching!
The Vampire Diaries originally aired on The CW, telling the tale of the love triangle between Elena (played by Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Unfortunately, the series came to an end following eight seasons four years. This is when Netflix then stepped in and added the drama to its library of content in 2013.
When The Vampire Diaries was taken down from the media platform, one subscriber said: "Netflix really did look at 2020 and go what could make this worse?? and decided the vampire diaries could be removed."
A second said: Just found out Netflix are removing the vampire diaries next month.

Fans who love supernatural dramas will find a lot of shows like The Vampire Diaries to enjoy. The Vampire Diaries centered on Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and her hometown of Mystic Falls. Elena and her close circle of friends discover that vampires, werewolves, and witches exist and many have a long history with the small town. At the center of the supernatural stories were brothers (Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley) who became vampires decades earlier and have a history of falling for the same woman.
The Vampire Diaries creates an interesting mythology around its characters and produced two spin-off series. The Originals focuses on the original family of vampires, while Legacies focuses on the new generation with the next generation from the other two shows. When fans of The Vampire Diaries want to find something similar to watch when they miss the show, there is plenty to choose from - from supernatural stories to high school dramas to monster-hunting shows, there is something for everyone.
The story of Nancy Drew is much more compressed than The Vampire Diaries though, with most of the action of the four seasons taking place in less than a year. Kennedy McMann stars as Nancy Drew. While the series ended after four seasons, there was also a spin-off that aired on The CW called Tom Swift, which was set in what the network called its "Drew-niverse."
Hope is a tribrid - with vampire, witch, and werewolf DNA. Matt Davis also returns from The Vampire Diaries to reprise his role as Alaric Saltzman, someone who looks after and helps train the young vampires, werewolves, and witches. The series expands the show's lore, even including different gods in Legacies stories. Legacies lasted for four seasons.
If the conflict between vampires and humans is what appeals to Vampire Diaries fans, as well as the romance that can result between the two species, then First Kill is an appealing option. The series gives a new take on vampire mythology, but it also makes hunting vampires a family legacy. Two teenage girls find themselves on a collision course when their families are on opposite sides of the vampire-human line. One is from a family of hunters, expected to kill her first vampire.
The other is from a family of vampires, expected to kill her first human to become an adult. When the two fall for one another, their lives become much more complicated. Unfortunately for fans, First Kill only has one season and Netflix canceled it in 2022. There was a fan push for a renewal, but it doesn't look like the story will continue after it's run on Netflix.
Though Wolf Pack has garnered more comparisons to Teen Wolf than The Vampire Diaries, the show does have plenty in common with both. The series takes a pair of teenagers who know nothing about werewolf lore and puts them right in the middle of a werewolf conflict as they are bitten and discover two of their classmates are natural-born werewolves. The series works to bond a group of teens around the mystery of which one of the werewolves is killing people around town.
Although its spinoff might not have done as well, the original Penny Dreadful was a lot more successful in building its world. On the air between 2014-2016 and set in Victorian England, the show mainly follows Vanessa Ives and her investigative team as they work together to hunt down any supernatural entities who are lurking around London. Like The Vampire Diaries, monsters hide in the shadows, including the infamous Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Henry Jekyll, and Dorian Gray.
It's a bit darker and more violent than The Vampire Diaries, but it has an intriguing and compelling story arc that ties all three seasons together. The cast was top-notch, with names like Timothy Hutton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Josh Hartnett, and Wes Studi in the lead roles. The show also received critical acclaim, picking up 13 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, an unusual feat for a show based in the realm of supernatural horror themes.
Being Human focuses on the lives of a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost, who live together as roommates and all go on a journey of self-discovery as they try to work out their place in the world. It's not just the supernatural elements and creatures that make the series similar to The Vampire Diaries, but some of its best romances are just as emotional and iconic too, with many gravitating towards Aidan and Sally as well as Josh and Nora in the supernatural series.
