Ineed to convert a showfile from Compulite Vector to Grand MA. According to the compulite website I should be able to convert to USITT ASCII, I've been through the manual and offline editor with a fine tooth comb and still not managed to work out how?

Had a prod through one of our Vectors today and not found any type of export / save as... option. Are compulite able to offer you a solution if not then DMX capture on the MA will be the easiest option short of reprogramming the entire show.

My memory is that there's a separate Compulite program which takes the showfile from some (but not all) Compulite consoles and spits out ASCII files. I think it was called CompUSITT. I have it on a computer somewhere, but sadly not on the one that is currently here with me, and I can't find it on the Compulite website.

I do also remember trying to use it on Vector files before and not having much success; the files saved from Vector were compressed in a manner that the CompUSITT program didn't quite recognise. In the end Andy Stone of Compulite/Stagetec/Fuzion had to do some 'magic' that got the files into a format CompUSITT recognised. My memory is that we did then get them into a USITT-like format that I could do other useful things with.

I am informed by Compulite that Vector > ASCII has NEVER worked. You can open a ASCII show on a Vector, but you cannot save it as ASCII and currently there are no conversion options for Vector > ASCII.

I am thinking maybe Andy managed to convert the Vector show to an older Compulite format and then on into ASCII. Compulite tell me that they have Vector > ASCII on their list to do in the future. For future reference, if you need a show converting and not sure if it can be done, feel free to email it to sup...@compulite.com or to myself directly - j...@burpleuk.com.

At the time of writting, pricing and a release date have not been set. To learn more about the Compulite Vector Violet visit their website at www.compulite.com. Compulite is distributed in North America by Creative Stage Lighting.
