Don't we normally meet at 7?  Are you talking about today?

Typo in the subject, I meant Oct 28th, 7pm, an hour we do normally meet at.

Don’t we normally do Wednesdays? Would it be the 29th?

Ooh, sorry to hear that :(

Brandon - I’m still up for meeting. Don’t have anything specific to show/discuss, but I’m up for something if you are.

I will be there either way. Heading down now with the family. Gonna stop for a bite first.

Hey guys, I have a schedule conflict for tonight and will not make the meeting. I asked Terry at the library to cancel it. Also I am thinking we should cancel the December meeting, as it's pretty close to xmas (and I will be out of town).

Thoughts? Objections?

Howdy,

Just came form Conj - quite amazing how things get very mature as super fast pace - was not able to make it anyways.  I essentially abandoned Scala now (with some exceptions) for all of my prototyping now.

Wish everybody a good Holidays and see you in January. I think we need to advertise the group locally more and could move more toward tutoring more. I have seen in past few months how ppl pick this language really fast and love it from the first sight. Success stories from Conj only help ...

Best,
Andy

Cool, I look forward to hearing about conj!  Yeah, I agree, we could be doing a lot more to reach out to locals.  I will need some help with that though, as honestly I have a lot of other things on my plate right now.  And marketing has never been my specialty.  :-)

What do we want the group to be about?  What sort of places would we be most likely to find folks interested in Clojure?  What methods of outreach do we have available to us?

I think those are good questions to start with.

The whole idea came from witnessing two individuals: one from high school and other young engineer picking up Clojure so fast after apparently being tired of Java.

I was thinking about reaching out to colleges and local companies directly and focus our group on interactive web programing ... Let's brain storm it next time ....

Is the group still active?

I assume so: I joined hoping to attend in Nov. but Nov/Dec meet-ups were cancelled. The mailing list isn't active but that's fine.

We'll be meeting this month on the 28th.  Welcome!  What sparked your interest in Clojure?

Yeah, the mailing list is pretty much just for, “are we meeting?” type of emails. With the official Clojure email list and an IRC channel etc, there’s not much need for any specific Clojure-type questions.  If, after a meeting, there are any questions about anything that we went over specifically, they’re usually asked here. But other than that, it’s mostly just to confirm meeting dates/times.

And yes, we’re still active… just been on hiatus for the holidays.

Next meeting (as Brandon mentions in another email, I just noticed) is on Jan 28.
