I spend many hours and days trying to port CLIPS  6.3.1 on a window platform using the new MSVS 2026. I had the same problem I encounterd with V. 2022. Out of the box, CLIPS_MVS-2019 compiles fine and provides windows and run OK.

As soon  I try to change even a word in one in the main menu or try to adapt or modify a "dialog", ressource.h and/or mdiclips.rc goes away and give many errors during compilation and is impossible.

Is there some tricks to avoid such a situation. I like CLIPS vs Visual Prolog but, so at this time, I can't develop my new medical expert system...

Thanks, many thanks, if somebody can help me.

I see the mostly the same behavior in terms of creating errors when making simple changes. The IDE in version 6.3 uses the old Win32 APIs whereas the current CLIPS 6.4 uses the .NET frameworks. The current VS 2022 projects for CLIPS 6.4 will compile with VS 2026; all I had to do was allow it to update the version of the build tools being used when requested. The new version uses xaml files rather than rc files for storing resources. If for some reason you need to use CLIPS 6.3, you can make simple alterations to the UI by editing the mdiclips.rc file outside of Visual Studio. The free version of VS 2019 is no longer available, so I couldn't go back to check if the same problem occurred with it.
