Hello,
the new version of Clipperz is a complete rewrite of the application
using more advanced tools (PureScript and Scala) that should support
the introduction of new feature much more reliably compared to what
could have been possible with the old code base.
> why you don't, for example, place a small advertisement somewhere at the bottom of data page so that there are no problems with site support and the user does not have to worry about another migration
Sorry, but I don't understand your suggestion.
We understand that having two separate Clipperz account is VERY
inconvenient; but the new /epsilon version is just a preview version,
not really meant for regular use.
We (Clipperz team) are trying to use /epsilon daily in order to
identify and sort out issues, but we are not really expecting regular
users to just jump on /epsilon right away; we have put a screaming
banner on the top of the application for just this reason.
But we would obviously love some feedback from brave users willing to
test the new application out.
Technically, with this new release, we can not handle the migration of
users data automatically between the current version and the new one.
Previously we were able to avoid migration issues as the different
versions (/beta, /gamma, /delta) were technically just different UIs
accessing the same core data provided by a single backend application.
With /epsilon we started from scratch, and we have also adopted a new,
more flexible, format to store the data on the backend, but this means
we can not migrate users' data automatically.
Hope this helps answering some of your concerns.
Thanks,
Giulio Cesare
