Hi Clipperz,
I have tried to import entries from a KeePass text file. Everything
works fine until the last step, the encryption and sending to your
server. I get the error message:
type error: o has no properties
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. I first thought that was
maybe due to empty "URL" and/or empty "notes" fields, but I still got
the error message even after I added the URLs and after I delete the
lines that started with 'notes:' but that had no content.
Any idea how I can import my over 200 KeePass entries into Clipperz?

Hello,

have you tried importing just a few records?

If importing just a few records still fails, I may try to provide an
updated version of the application with some debugging statement
enabled, in order to try to understand what is going on.

Yes, I did try it with just the first 3 records, didn't work either.
Btw, I then went on exporting my Keepass entries to a CSV file. That
import failed as well :-(

Hello,

it would be very useful, if you could try to export a few records from
KeePass, hide the relevant data, and check if you can import it.

If you still fail to import the file, even with fake data, please send
it to me, so I can check what is going wrong.

Thank for your feedback.

Ok, I think I know where the problem is. I successfully imported the
entries if the Notes field only had one line of text. As soon as the
Notes field has more lines and more than one paragraph I get an error
message. I have a number of entries with between 10-20 lines of text
in the Notes field, so that might have been the reason why I couldn't
import my entries.
This is my example file:

[ABC]
UserName: jimmyjam
URL: www.abc.com
Password: 1234567
Notes: Group SMS text messaging worldwide

[DEF]
UserName: berni
URL: www.go.com
Password: ASDF
Notes:

[QWERTY]
UserName: hellome
URL: www.today.com
Password: &%^*(#
Notes: internet voicemail replacement and SMS
to activate call forwarding use +1 775 665-1234
to deactivate call forwarding to Callwave voicemail, send ##004#
to change voice mail number back to T-Mobile's system use 123 or
+1805MESSAGE

Is there any way for me to format my text file, so Clipperz will
import my Notes as well?

Thanks,
Sascha

Hello,

thank you very much for the attention put into finding this problem. I
have tried multiline notes fields, and the were supposed to work. :-(

Could you try to have a last record without a multiline note? Just in
case I made the exit condition wrong.

In the meanwhile, I will try to add your example to the KeePass
importer test suite.

Thank you very much.

I made another try with importing my 201 entries, the last record
never had a multiline note, in fact the note field is empty.
Unfortunately it still didn't go through.
Hope you'll find the error soon =)

Hello,

just another simple test: could you please check the line end encoding?

When you paste the content of the KeePass export into the textarea, do
you see alternate empty lines?
If this is the case, could you please try updating the export file to
use the standard unix line end encoding?

Thanks for your suport.

The import finally worked! Well, let me tell you how. Thanks to your
tip with the Unix line end encoding I was able to figure it out:
1. In the Keepass options I went to "Files" and changed the setting to
"Unix newline sequence" (was set to Windows before);
2. Then I selected "Export to txt file" and in the following Options
menu also selected the top box titled "Encode/replace newline
characters by '\n'

These 'Unix' settings are probably counter-intuitive for us ignorant
Windows users, maybe it would be good point out the settings in the
import section of Clipperz?
These two settings finally made it work, now all I need is a quick
search function ;-)

Thanks,
Sascha

Hello Sascha,

I very happy the line ending setting did work. :-)

We will try to update the description on how to perform the KeePass
export to make it suitable for importing data into Clipperz.

About the search feature, it is coming, but you need to have some patience.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Giulio Cesare
