Just a suggestion
Using the Firefox sidebar could be a nice idea for a future add-on.
We have not really any experience in developing Firefox extensions:
any help is welcome!
Thanks for using Clipperz!

keep it to yourself
we have already start discussing about the "direct login detachable window".
The main problem we are facing is that Firefox defines through a
preference if new windows should be opened in new windows or just in
new tabs.
It would be very nice if we could choose which behaviour to use from
JavaScript, but I don't think this is possible.
We will investigate this issue further, as we are also missing this feature.
Thanks for using Clipperz.

try to load the following address in your FireFox sidebar:
<https://www.clipperz.com/beta/?compact>
It also has a 60 seconds auto lock feature (not customizable at the moment).
Let me know if this is what your were looking for.

Just wanted to tell you that this Compact sidebar is exactly what
Clipperz needed to make it really convenient to use. Yes, it would be
nice to be able to customize the time on the auto lock, but it's just
really good to have the sidebar option!
Jen
thanks for the feedback, and also for the lengthy review you have done! ;-)
I am going to remove the auto-lock feature for the first "public"
release of the compact sidebar as we fear that it could create some
confusion, as at the moment the user interface provides no clue on
what had happened nor why.
We are still thinking on how to balance the convenience of the
auto-lock feature (I was already addicted only after a single day of
testing) and the predictability of the interface.
As we are getting closer to the public release of this new compact
mode, does anybody know if there is a way to achieve the same result
also with IE, without having to write a full plug-in?

re Sidebar -- just a reminder about that little glitch with Firefox 2,
that I'd talked about with Marco about earlier -- that is, sidebar
works perfectly when I put in name/passphrase and just hit the
'return' key, but actually clicking the login button just opens
another login window in a full-size tab...
re Auto Lock -- after the initial "what the heck is this?" reaction, I
have come to appreciate it, too...
most of the time... ;-)

Just fixed. It almost caused me an headache, but I have managed to solve it.

I have attached a screenshot of the lates development version; there
is a checkbox to activate the "auto" lock feature, while the "lock" is
a plain link that locks the data immediately.
I am not 100% satisfied with this solution, but at the moment I don't
know how to improve it. So at the moment I am just wandering through
the sites of the people visiting our site while waiting for a better
idea. :-)
Do you have any suggestion?
Giulio Cesare
the problem you are seeing is real, and it happens when you click on
the button. It is fixed in my development setup, but you can avoid it
simply hitting enter instead of clicking on the button.
Thanks for your initial suggestion, otherwise I would have not be
aware of the option to use common web pages as sidebar in FireFox.
Giulio Cesare
I have just uploaded the new version that fixes the main problems
found on the preview of the Clipperz "compact" interface: release 700.
Enjoy it! ;-)

I am very happy that you want to enjoy Clipperz, but I fear it would
not solve your problem 100%; at least for GMail.
The problem is that GMail set some relevant information on the session
cookie, and when you try to log to a GMail account while being already
logged with another account, this later account is automatically
disconnected. And this happens both using direct logins and regular
form login.
I am using two different GMail accounts now, but one is a regular
GMail account, while the other is an account of the Google for domain
service. This is the only condition that I am aware of where you can
have two instances of GMail set on two different accounts working
together.
Other than this, you should be able to setup Clipperz in your FireFox
sidebar following Marco's instructions:
<http://www.clipperz.com/support/user_guide/clipperz_compact>
The only point where you can miss what to do is this:
3 - Change the properties of the bookmark so that "load this bookmark
in the sidebar" is checked.
To "change the properties of the bookmark", you have to right-click on
it, and select the "Properties" item from the contextual menu. Once
selected this option, a small properity inspector shows-up, and you
can check the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" checkbox.
Does this help you?
Thanks for using Clipperz.

Giulio Cesare
from your screenshot il looks like you are using many different Google
service, probably with the same account.
If this is the case, then Clipperz can help you a lot.
In fact, you can (and really should) create a single Google card (name
it how you like, but it should contain your Google account
credential), and add to this card as many "direct login" configuration
as you like, one for each Google service you want to use.
The single card - multile direct login is not a Google specific
feature, and can be used also with other services.
Thanks for using Clipperz.
Giulio Cesare
if you want to "logout" from a Google account and login into another,
it should be enough to close the window you don't need anymore and
simply use the direct login of the account you need to use.
The problem I have seen happens when you try to use together two accounts.
If you use one at a time (and close the relative window when you are
done), you should not have any problem.
You don't need to close upfront, but if you try to use a window logged
in with an account after having logged in on another window with a
different account, the first window starts to missbehave.
